About me

My name is Dennis Richardson and I am a Clinical Psychologist in Brooklyn, NY. I am the founder of MentalHealth Psychological Practice, a private psychology practice that specializes in evaluation, assessment and diagnosis of a variety of behavioral, emotional, developmental or academic issues. My experience includes working with children, adolescents and families with issues of depression, anxiety, and learning disorders.

  • Emotional growth and evolution
  • Better relationships with yourself and with others
  • Healthy and useful self-understanding
  • Greater resilience
  • Improved physical health through psychological wellness
  • Greater life satisfaction

1995

I have started my clinical career from working with a wide array of psychological issues including mood disorders, anxiety disorders, self-esteem, anger management, parent/adolescent communication, self-injury, teen/adolescent issues, stress management as well as relationship and marital issues.

Between 1995 and 2001 I was working in Los Angeles as an independent psychological expert for dozens of companies and small companies of the area. It gave me a possibility to qualify in business and management psychology while helping department managers to solve behavioral conflicts between their employees.

2001

Advanced training in psychological assessment and psychotherapy

Extensive work experience in university counseling centers, community mental health centers and private practice settings.

Specific advanced training for Borderline Personality Disorder (from Behavioral Tech) including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.

In 2001 I continued my research started a year before on the topic “Overcoming Depression”, which allowed me to develop an innovative method of depression treatment. I’ve been using this method ever since in my practice.

Research Results

In December 2005, I became well trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing Therapy) which I use now to enable clients to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress of disturbing life events, including symptoms of PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).
